Muriel Perron
Since December 2012, the laboratory of the Retina France association, the CERTO (Centre d’Etudes et de Recherches Thérapeutiques en Ophtalmologie ; Center of Therapeutic Studies and Research in Ophthalmology) has joined our research group SCaNR, with whom we are now developing collaborative projects.
The research interest of the SCaNR group is focussed on the molecular mechanisms underlying cell proliferation and determination in the retina during development and in the adult. These last few years, the group has particularly been involved in the study of signalling pathways and factors regulating the maintenance of retinal stem cells in Xenopus and their regenerative potential in animal models of retinal neurodegenerative pathologies. In collaboration with the CERTO, we are developing researches in murine models aiming at discovering novel therapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) or Aged Macular Degeneration (AMD).
