The group works on the brain oscillators generating the breathing rhythm in Vertebrates. We investigate the neural basis of rhythm generation and modulation during embryogenesis, particularly the role of antero-posterior patterning (Hox, Krox20, kreisler) and dorso-ventral patterning of the neural tube (Dbx1, Phox2, …), but the role of neurotophic factors (BDNF), and guidance cues (Robo3) in specifying cell lineages contributing to oscillators and control of the system.
